Master’s Toolkit Development Update

Hey folks!

Towns and Cities has come and gone, Dungeons Deep is in full swing, but it’s been 7 months since the Master’s Toolkit public version was last updated. A lot of you may be wondering what’s going on, and I’m here to provide some info on that.

Early this year we realised that our current user experience wasn’t great, arguably it was barely good in a lot of places. Because of this, we’ve been effectively rebuilding a lot of systems from the ground up, with a strong focus on clear and unambiguous UI, and a high level of polish that makes the Toolkit actually feel nice to use. The v5.0 Launcher update was the first step in the process, and fortunately it was quite well received.

Originally we were going to release the new updates into public on a module-by-module basis, starting with Soundscape, then Encyclopedia, Cartographer and Scenario, however our belief is that the public version should provide a cohesive user experience. Having one module with brand new UI and features that doesn’t match the look and feel of the rest of the software would leave a disjointed feeling, and that’s one thing we very much want to avoid. For that reason, we’ll be releasing the public version once all modules have been updated and polished. The goal is to have this out at the end of the year, but there may be some slight overruns.

For those of you who want to experience the new Toolkit earlier, the Beta version is regularly being updated, and can be accessed in your Launcher. You may experience bugs and crashes, so be wary of running games with it. That being said, our recent multi-monitor functionality upgrade is definitely worth checking out, especially if you have more than 2 screens!

We’ll be hosting a Q&A session on Thursday 15th October at 8pm US Eastern (16th Oct 11am AEST, 16th Oct 1am UK) to answer any further questions you may have, to take feature requests, to listen to your complaints, and all manner of things. You can post your questions on Twitter (https://twitter.com/Arkenforge/status/1315881456334381059?s=20) or Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/masterstoolkit/permalink/782669248967224/), or ask them live.

We’re excited to get the new updates to you 🙂

Cheers,

    1. We can definitely put something out 🙂

It won’t be a roadmap so much as a ‘here’s everything that’ll be available in the next public release’

      1. Awesome, just for my curiosity how far out do you suspect is the IR token support?

Been eagerly interested in that for a long time!

Will we be able to catch the stream after if we happen to be running a game at the time it starts?
