Masters Toolkit (14)

If your Cartographer module looks like this, you are dealing with a corrupt patch.

Step 1: Repair the toolkit – Click here how

Step 1 : Purchase community uploaded maps – click here – they are all free.

Step 2 : Open your downloads folder, and doubleclick the downloaded zip file

Step 3 : Doubleclick the folder within the Zip file to open it up

Step 4 : Look for the .rwmap file in the file list, thats the map file we need

Step 5 : Select the item and press Alt+E or right click and select “Exctract to a specified folder”

Step 6: In the browser look for your Maps folder within your Arkenforge installation. By default its C:\Arkenforge\ArkenforgeData\Maps
If you are unsure where your installation folder is, open up your launcher, click on the “Gear” icon next to the green “ONLINE” status indicator ,click on the Installation tab,  and you will be able to see/open your Data folder :

Step 7 : Click “Ok”

Step 8 : Now you can open your map within the Master’s Toolkit, in the settings :

Step 1: Open Arkenforge Launcher

Step 2: Click on the grey gear icon next to the status indicator green “Online” text

Step 3: Click on the Installation Tab

Step 4: Click on Uninstall next to the Masters Toolkit

Step 5: Click on the Master’s Toolkit button to install

Step 6: Wait until Installation is completed

Step 1: Connect your secondary display to your laptop/computer and power it on, changing it to the appropriate channel.

Step 2: Right click on your dektop and select “Display settings”

Step 3: Select your secondary display, then choose “Extend the desktop to this display” option from the Multiple Displays menu

Step 4: Launch the Master’s Toolkit from the Launcher

Step 5: In the Main Menu, click “Settings”, a menu will open, select the Display tab, and click on “Activate Player Screen”. Optionally you can measure your screen and fill out the Width and Height sections to ensure exact 1 inch projection.

 

Step 6: Open up any maps in Scenario, and you are ready to play

Step 1: Select Objects palette on the palette tool, navigate to Repeatables, and select Barriers

Step 2 : Trace the walls and objects you would like to block light with barriers, they will appear as red lines. There red lines are only visible to the DM, not the players!

Step 3 : If you hold ctrl while drawing, the lines will allign to the grid, if you hold shift, you trigger free-draw, so you can trace uniquely shaped objects

Step 4 : If you need to delete barriers, use the eraser tool, and dont forget to tick barriers

Step 5: You are ready! Turn the time of day to night, and place a light source to check your work!

Importing the custom packs manually into the Master’s Toolkit

Once our pack is ready, we can import it via the Arkenforge Launcher.

Step 1: Click on the custom packs tab :

Step 2: Click on Import custom packs on the bottom :

Step 3:  If you downloaded Community packs, just navigate to your Downloads folder and select the pack files to import then click Select folder

Step 4: Check whether your Custom pack shows up in the list, if yes, launch the Master’s Toolkit :

 

You will need to use the  Pack creator to do so, which you can access via the main menu of the Arkenforge Launcher. Please keep in mind that the Pack creator only supports .ogg or .wav files to import, so mp3/flac files need to be converted. You can use a free converter like this (Thank you Leigh Pierce for suggesting it!).

If you would like to import individual instruments in a song, and then be able to control those individual instruments, just like with official assets, you will need to have an export of all audio layers in .wav or .ogg format, and name them in a specific way for easy import : Song title_Instrument name. Therefore sound files regarding to a song called “Here are the pirates” would look like this :
Here are the pirates_Drums.ogg
Here are the pirates_Violins.ogg
Here are the pirates_Flutes.ogg

Naming multi-layered songs this way will automatically group them when imported!

Step by step tutorial to import Music into a pack:

Step 1 : Create a new pack, or open an existing pack within the Pack creator, if it’s a new Pack, name it:

Step 2 : Open up your pack by clicking edit, then next:

Step 3 : Choose Soundscapes to add audio assets to your pack:

Step 4 : Click on add Songs, navigate your file browser to the folder you keep the .ogg/.wav files you wish to import! Select one by clicking, or multiple files by holding the ctrl button while clicking. If you would like to select all audio files within a folder, click the first file then hold shift, and click the last item to highlight them all, then click Open:

Step 5 : Optionally fill out the Artist name or add tags (separated by a comma) to your songs to be able to find them easier within the software. Click Save on top, and now the song is added to the pack. Scroll down to Import pack if you don’t want to put your song into a preset!

Step by step tutorial to import Ambiences into a pack:

Ambiences are seamlessly looping audio files, to create different atmospheres to your game. These files also need to be in .ogg or .wav format!

Step 1 : Click on the Ambiences tab in the Soundscapes section of your pack creator :

Step 2 : Click on Add ambiences, navigate your browser to the folder where your .ogg or .wav ambience files are. Select one file by clicking on it,  or multiple files by holding the ctrl button while clicking the selected files. If you would like to select all audio files within a folder, click the first file then hold shift, and click the last item to highlight them all, then click Open:

Step 3 : Optionally click on the Category boxes to fill out the categories, or add Tags to the ambiences (separated by commas) to find them easily in your library! Hit save on the top!

Step by step tutorial to import SFX into a pack:

SFX’s are one-off audio files, to time and add to an ambience, or place it on the Quick access SFX tab of Soundscape. These files also need to be in .ogg or .wav format!
To increase variety in your SFX, we recommend tying multiple soundfiles to a single SFX. You can achieve this by naming your files in a certain way: Filename_order. An SFX named Sword would be named like this:
Sword_1.ogg
Sword_2.ogg
Sword_3.ogg
Naming SFX this way automatically groups them at import, and ties them under one SFX button.

Step 1 : Click on the Ambiences tab in the Soundscapes section of your pack creator :

Step 2 : Click on Add SFX, navigate your browser to the folder where your .ogg or .wav ambience files are. Select one file by clicking on it,  or multiple files by holding the ctrl button while clicking the selected files. If you would like to select all audio files within a folder, click the first file then hold shift, and click the last item to highlight them all, then click Open:

Step 3 : Optionally fill out the tags (separated by a comma) to find your SFX easier within your library! Click save!

 

Adding songs to a preset

To have your presets tied into your pack and be ready for your session, you will need to create them within the pack creator.

Step 1 : After importing your Songs/Ambiences/SFXm click on the Presets tab:

Step 2: Create a new preset by clicking on the Create preset button. If you would like to create main and sub-presets, you will need to name your presets a certain way : Main preset-Sub preset. For this example we use a Tavern main preset, so all sub-presets of the Tavern : Calm,Busy,Tavern brawl – will be named like this :

Tavern-Tavern Brawl
This way when opening though the program, the Calm, Busy and Tavern Brawl will show up as Sub-Presets under the Tavern Preset:

Step 3:

Click on the freshly created preset, so add song, add ambience, and add sfx buttons light up. Now you are able to add sounds to your preset by clicking on those add buttons. To add a song for example from the library,  click on add song, select the song and click on the plus icon next to the song name, then hit save.

Step 8: A new window will pop up, doubleclick on the ArkenforgeLauncherSetup folder

Step 9: Doubleclick on instructions.txt, then doubleclick on ArkenforgeLauncherSetup.msi and follow installation promts carefully stated in the txt file!
